Batting Practice

This has been a busy week in the Damiano household. I've been running around like a madwoman with Nico in tow, meeting all our friends & family for the last playdates of summer. I had one short day of downtime this week so all I got done was this one layout. It seems that I've really slowed down with scrapping this summer. I miss it!

Here's another simple, clean layout using mostly Cosmo Cricket paper and chipboard. I love the color combination in the stripe paper and based the layout on this scheme. The cloud paper is October Afternoon and I thought it was a great way to break up all of the solids.

Those huge black letters are rub-ons by Autumn Leaves and they are at least a couple of years old. Love that! They are also top-notch as far as rub-ons go, they go on smoothly and with very little rubbing. I couldn't believe they were in such great shape after sitting in a drawer for 3+ years.

I haven't done a 2-pager in a while and I really enjoyed working in the larger format. I have a feeling that you will see alot more like this in the next two weeks!

Philadelphia Zoo

Here's a really quick one that I did this past weekend at a crop. I usually do very simple pages when I'm out because I just can't stand to pack that much stuff for a crop. I try to bring as little as possible so my pages usually come out super simple and streamlined. I always end up adding a little something when I get home.

I love these zoo stickers by Doodlebug. They are very cutesy, but sometimes I like that. The tree is from Maya Road and I covered it with some green Crate Paper I had on hand. The rest of the paper is Doodlebug. The huge chipboard brackets are from an old Fancy Pants sheet that I've had laying around here forever. It feels good to use "old" stuff like that and goodness know I have alot of "old" stuff around here!

Summer at Lelo's

I can't believe it's almost over! Summer always goes by so fast in the Northeast but this year even more so since the entire month of June was cold, rainy and dreary. Blah. I've been rushing around these past two weeks trying to go to all of our favorite summer haunts and get together with our cousins and friends for the last time. Honestly, I'm exhausted but Nico has had so much fun.

I love the super bright colors and patterns of this Snorkel line by Cosmo Cricket. The chipboard letters and accents were perfect for my title.

I paired it up with this great yellow scalloped paper by We'R Memory Keepers and a little bit of leaf dotted cardstock from Bazzill. Lots of patterns here but I think they work and are balanced out by the huge journaling block. I usually do not like to mix this many patterns and colors so this is really out of my comfort zone. I'll be honest, I cringe a little at the loudness of it all but there's something about it that I like too.
I love the big white dots in this chipboard wave. This was just begging for some layered accents. The red number three represents my three little fishies - Nico and his two cousins. The blue gems are called dew drops I believe and I love the dimension they add. They are super easy to use since they are completely flat on the back. Just a drop of E-6000 adhesive and they are stuck on there forever.

I went through three sheets of this yellow lined paper to get that journaling lined up just right. Ugh. I really should've just left it be, but it kept bothering me. I like linear designs with clean lines and the crooked journaling was k-i-l-l-i-n-g me. I really need to learn to let go!

I was lucky enough to go to a crop this past weekend with some of my favorite friends. I got three layouts started that I'm just putting the finishing touches on. I'll be back later this week to show you what I came up with!
